Every Friday, JEEP brings Shabbos to Halom House, a home for Jewish adults with developmental disabilities. There is prayer, singing and a party. Over the years there has also been a drumming circle, painting and learning.
In 2021, the residents took on a tzedakah project. Tzedakah is often translated as charity. The Hebrew word means justice.
When the day came to empty the tzedakah cans, the residents had to decide where the money should go. They talked it over and debated. In the end they split it between the Red Cross and the JCC.
“Every single person should have a chance to celebrate their spirituality and their Jewishness on whatever level works for them.”
